Swim, Forage, Eat.
A Day at Lunga.
What to expect on the day
A full day, taken at a steady pace, with plenty of time to enjoy each part.
Morning — Swim & Sauna (from 10am)
We start in the water with a guided sea swim led by Dan the Merman, with a gentle introduction to the water and a touch of mindfulness. Tamara Colchester, published foraging author, will also introduce some of the seaweeds you’ll encounter. We’ll then warm up in the sauna overlooking the coast.
A calm, steady start to the day, suitable for all levels.
Please note: wetsuits and snorkels are not provided.
Afternoon — Foraging Walk (from 3pm)
We head out along the shoreline and into the woodland, learning what’s edible, what’s not, and how to spot it. Slow-paced, practical and genuinely interesting.
Led by Tamara, with Blair, a local woodsman and forager, sharing his knowledge of the area’s flora and fauna.
Lunch — Coastal Meal (from 1pm)
A relaxed two-course seasonal lunch. Good food, good company, and time to sit and take it all in. The menu draws on foraged ingredients and local produce.
Sample menu:
Wood-fired flatbreads - Cured seatrout · celeriac doner · wild-spiced ham hough · foraged mushrooms, pesto and salad - Millefeuille of fresh strawberry and wood sorrel
Evening — Feast & Mocktails (from 6.30pm)
We round things off with a three-course feast featuring foraged ingredients, alongside Lunga Island iced tea mocktails (BYOB for alcoholic drinks). A proper end to the day as the light starts to soften.
Sample menu:
Lunga Island iced tea mocktail - Woodpigeon terrine or grilled asparagus - Puy lentil vinaigrette - Pollock or ‘vish’ and millionaire chips - Foraged sea beet, pea purée, charred lemon - Foraged elderflower fritters and ice cream
You can join for individual parts of the day, or come for the full experience.
